Kensuke Ogawa

Kensuke Ogawa is a semiconductor optics experimentalist, who first observed waveguide polaritons, in his first published work! This did not bring him much credit, although he possibly also observed polariton splitting ahead of Weisbuch's famous cavity polariton discovery. But Ogawa's intermediate case, between bulk and cavity polaritons, was not widely recognized and no credit is given to him for a pioneering observation. This was then understood as a type of surface polariton (a surface-exciton-polariton, that is; nowadays plasmon polaritons are more populars as surface polaritons).
