Castrillo de Duero

Castrillo de Duero is of family importance since this is the village where Julio's grandparents originate from, with his mother moving to Madrid when she was a child. It is in the Castile-Leon province in Spain. It is also the birthplace of el Empecinado (Juan Martín Díez), a Spanish military who fought, often successfully, the Napolean army during the Spanish war of independence.

We passed by on our week-end visiting Peñafiel on 4 March (2019).
