Daniel Greenberger

Daniel Greenberger, of GHZ fame, is a professor of Physics. He has very interesting contributions especially regarding relativistic remnants in the Schrödinger equation.[2][3]

the universe must have been created without us in mind. It was here before sentient beings existed, and will probably outlive them. But that really both ers my human ego, because it raises the question of why in the world was the universe created anyway? If not to be admired, not to be occupied, then why? Some reason far, far beyond our comprehension. We will never have more than hints of what constitutes reality, sort of like the blind men touching different parts of an elephant.

At least my very worst fear has been calmed by the dis covery of the acceleration of the expansion of the universe. This fear was that of a cyclic repetition of expansion and then collapse, which was becoming very acceptable to a lot of people. In that scenario, there is a big bang, atoms form, galaxies form and evolve, until finally life evolves, and there comes about a species that reaches such sophistication that they can look around and ask “What does it all mean?” And at that point, the whole thing starts to collapse down to noth ing, and it all disappears. Not only that, but the whole cycle then starts all over again. That reduces creation to one vast practical joke, giving the ultimate lie to Einstein’s “The lord is subtle, but not malicious.”
